In villages across northern India, women have traditionally woven dhurries, flat tapestry rugs, as part of a bride s trousseau. The rugs are practical - used as floor coverings or on the charpoy, the woven bed common in village homes - but also highly expressive, featuring unique colors and creative designs. Beyond their beauty, dhurries represent continuity in craft tradition, linking generations of women through weaving.
